New President? What You Need to Know -

Are you a brand-new president? Have you been a president, but it has been a while? Join us for an interactive session to discuss how to handle most situations.  Bring your questions and share ideas with other presidents. Two parts - sign up for both parts - Session 1 and Session 2

Culture & CommUnity -

Let’s get uncomfortable so we can get more comfortable! PTA is all about advocacy 4 ALL, so let’s talk about how to bring us ALL together.  California’s demographics are ever-changing and ever-beautiful.  We will dive into the broad concept of culture and share some strategies for better understanding ourselves and each other. This is a safe space for touching on what and who we may and may not know and how to navigate the bridge between our differences.

FutureFund Connect E-Bylaws -

Bring your bylaws and let us walk you through the new FutureFund Connect platform. Ask questions and complete your bylaws in this session. Even if you are not ready to review and amend your bylaws, come to this hands-on class to see what to do when you are. Please bring a laptop.

Taxing Times- Nothing to Fear -

Feeling unsure about 990N, 199N, RRF-1, or CT-TR-1 filings? You're not alone - and we're here to help. Join us for a step-by-step training designed to prepare you to file! We will walk you through the required filings for the IRS, Franchise Tax Board, and Attorney General's Office, explain what's due, when it's due, and how to complete each form. Leave knowing exactly what to submit and how to stay compliant! Let's take the mystery out of tax filings!

Let's Talk Advocacy - The Heart of PTA -

This workshop will give you an understanding of how California PTA determines the positions it takes on legislation and what YOU, as a PTA member, can do to be more involved at your local level. Hear about advocacy resources.

Whether you are a new PTA officer or just want to see what the latest procedures are, please join us! We will talk about the support structure of PTA, basic bylaws information, how to work as a board, and basic financial procedures for ALL officers.

Parent Rights & Self-Advocacy -

You gotta fight…for your right…to party! Or at least, to advocate for yourselves as parents and your kids. Learn about your state-mandated rights, board policies, and understand our educational system. We will discuss some strategies you can use to navigate certain situations (come prepared to share or ask!) and go over the fabulous PTA web resource ED100.

Tips for Successful PTA Meetings -

Learn how to conduct more productive meetings for your PTA - meetings that matter to your members and board members. The key to leading successful meetings is to be more intentional before, during, and after each meeting.

Membership Matters: Beyond the Numbers -

Membership is the heart of a strong PTA, and it’s about far more than a total count. This engaging workshop will equip leaders with practical strategies to run a successful, mission-driven membership campaign while strengthening outreach, inclusion, and member engagement. We’ll also address the importance of timely and accurate remittance through proper channels and why it matters for accountability and impact. Learn how to shift the focus from simply growing numbers to building a culture where every member feels valued, involved, and empowered to support students and schools.

Financial Reviews 101: Protecting Your Officers and Your Funds -

Financial Reviews are important for meeting bylaws, Insurance, and IRS rules. Learn how to conduct a review in this workshop. Understand the importance of the Financial Review Checklist and Financial Review Report and learn how to write recommendations! Appropriate for financial reviewers and possible committee members, and helpful for treasurers to learn how to prepare their books for a review.

Program Planning Roundtable -

Learn how to gather input, brainstorm ideas, prioritize resources, and get your programs funded. Collaborate with other PTA leaders for inspiration!!

This workshop will focus on how to navigate Totem.  We will review the process of updating your dues for the increase on July 1st, adding/deleting leaders, attaching bank accounts, finding and using reports, managing members, and more.

Document Retention - What? Where? When? -

Need your bylaws to resolve a problem, and don’t know where the current version is? Need a copy of the Certificate of Insurance for an event? It is very important that the right PTA records be retained. The current bylaws and standing rules approved by the state parliamentarian and adopted by the association, and the articles of incorporation (for incorporated PTAs), should be readily available at all times, along with financial records. In this class, learn what needs to be retained, and what doesn’t, and how to use FutureFund Connect document storage to keep your association running smoothly AND in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
